Advances in the Development of New Antituberculotics from the Group of Ortho-Condensed Heterocyclic Compounds. Part 3. Compounds Containing More Sorts of Heteroatoms in the Six-Membered Ring

K. Waisser, O. Bureš, P. Holý

Čes. slov. farm. 2001, 50(6):267-273

Tuberculosis and other mycobacterial diseases are considered to be one of the most importantproblems of contemporary health service. Since 1985 and particularly in the 1990s and at presentthe search for new structures of antimycobacterial agents have ranked among the foremost areasof chemotherapeutic research. The present review paper is already the 18 th communication ina group of review papers about substances with antituberculotic effects, and the third, final, communication devoted in this series about the development of new antimycobacterial agents toortho-condensed heterocyclic compounds in recent 15 years. The classification of ortho-condensedcompounds...

Nonpolar Constituents of the Leaves of Philadelphus coronarius L.

P. Mučaji, D. Grančai, M. Nagy, S. Cziglerová, M. Buděšínský, K. Ubik

Čes. slov. farm. 2001, 50(6):274-276

The paper deals with the isolation of constituents from light petrol and chloroform extracts of theleaves of Philadelphus coronarius L., Saxifragaceae. From the light petrol extract uvaol and3b,28-dihydroxyoleanane-11(12),13(18)-diene were isolated, while coumarins (umbelliferone, scopolin), stigmasteryl-3b-D-glucoside and the alcane type carbohydrate-C29H60 were isolated from thechloroform extract. The isolated compounds were identified by spectroscopic means and by comparison with standards and the literature data.

Monodesmosidic Saponins from Cynara cardunculus L.

P. Mučaji, D. Grančai, M. Nagy, M. Buděšínský, K. Ubik

Čes. slov. farm. 2001, 50(6):277-279

From an ethanolic extract of the flower buds of Cynara cardunculus L. (Asteraceae), two monodes-mosidic saponins, cynarasaponin B and a new cynarasaponin K, were isolated. The isolatedcompounds were identified by spectroscopic means and by comparison with standards and theliterature data.

Constituents of Holodiscus discolor (PURSH) MAXIM.

M. Haladová, E. Eisenreichová, M. Buděšínský, K. Ubik, D. Grančai

Čes. slov. farm. 2001, 50(6):280-282

The paper deals with the isolation of constituents from light petrol and methanol extracts of theleaves of Holodiscus discolor (PURSH) MAXIM., Rosaceae. b-sitosterol and taraxasterol were isolated from the light petrol extract, luteolin-7-O-glucoside was isolated from the methanol extract. The isolated compounds were identified

Constituents of Ligustrum delavayanum Hariot.

M. Nagy, S. Baróniková, D. Grančai

Čes. slov. farm. 2001, 50(6):283-285

From the chloroform part of Ligustrum delavayanum Hariot. leaves five constituents were isolated: tyrosol, esculetine, kempferol-7-O-rhamnoside, quercetine-3-O-glucoside, and quercetine. Furthersix constituents (probably malvidine, two secoiridoid glycosides, caffeic acid monosaccharide ester, quercetine monoglycoside (no hyperoside), and quercetine diglycoside (no rutinoside)) were isolated from the methanolic part of above mentioned drug.

A Study of the Anticomplementary Activity of Mahonia aquifolium Crude Extract, Bisbenzylisoquinoline Alkaloids, and Berberine

D. Košťálová, M. Bukovský, H. Koščová, A. Kardošová

Čes. slov. farm. 2001, 50(6):286-289

Crude extracts obtained from the stem bark of Mahonia aquifolium have been investigated as to the chemical composition and anticomplementary activity. The results show that their anticomplementary activity is mainly due to the alkaloid components. Especially the BBI alkaloid fraction and berberine showed a strong inhibitory effect on CH50 total hemolytic complement assay. The crude extract of M. aquifolium was less active than berberine or the fraction BBI alkaloids. The resultsindicate that the fraction of BBI alkaloids and berberine largely account for the immunomodulatory activity of the crude extract of M. aquifolium.

A Study of Qualitative Properties of Selected Species of the Genus Echinacea Moench.

Š. Vaverková, M. Hollá, J. Tekeľ, I. Mistríková, I. Vozár

Čes. slov. farm. 2001, 50(6):290-293

The paper examined the effect of production-technological conditions in relation to the ontogenetic stage of plants in three different species of the genus Echinacea Moench., comparing the species Echinacea purpurea, Echinacea atrorubens, and Echinacea pallida. It also examined the differences in the content of essential oil in different plant organs and evaluated the representation of individual components in the essential oils of the species under study at the stage of the optimal maturity for collection.

Experiments with the Cultivation of Hypericum perforatum L. in Bratislava

D. Tekeľová, M. Mrlianová

Čes. slov. farm. 2001, 50(6):294-298

Experiments in small plots were performed to cultivate Hypericum perforatum L. var. angustifolium DC on light soil and at a sunny location in Bratislava. In the 1st year of vegetation the herb was notharvested. Harvests were made in the 2 nd and 3 rd years of vegetation and later plants died. In the course of the vegetation year it was possible to carry out three harvests on the rule. The 1st one was made just prior to blooming or at the stage of the onset of blooming, and only the blooming top parts were collected. The yield of the dry tops varied in dependence on the vegetation year, conditions ofthe location, age of the plants, and the date of the...

Comparison of the Quality of Melissa officinalis L. cv. Citra with Melissas of European Origin

M. Mrlianová, D. Tekeľová, M. Felklová, J. Tóth, P. Musil, D. Grančai

Čes. slov. farm. 2001, 50(6):299-302

Within two vegetation periods, melissas from 17 European regions and the inland cultivar Citrawere examined. Melissas differed in height, foliage, and essential oil content. In the cultivatingconditions under study, two collections were possible in one year. In both experimental years at thestage just before blooming, or at the onset of blooming, plants 60-80 cm in height prevailed in theset. The share of leaves in the tops was 35-70 %. In the second repeated harvest, plants with newlyformed sprouts reached a height of 15-35 cm and had the best foliage (60-95 %). The essential oilcontent in the leaves at the stage just prior to blooming, or at the...

HPLC Analysis of Non-Steroidal Antirheumatics in Biological Material V. Fenamates

J. Sochor, J. Klimeš, J. Sedláček, M. Hnilová

Čes. slov. farm. 2001, 50(6):303-307

The present paper surveys published HPLC methods estimating derivates of fenamic acid inbiological materials and an HPLC method for estimation of meclofenamic acid in the samples ofwhole blood. Meclofenamic acid was isolated from the sample of the blood both liquid-liqud extractionand solid-liquid extraction. For determination of meclofenamic acid in the blood was preferredsolid-liquid extraction. The adjust sample was analysed on reverse phase Separon SGX C-18 withthe mobile phase methanol - water (pH 2.3) and detected at 220 nm. The method was used ina pharmacokinetic study of meclofenamic acid on rabbits.
