Investigation of the effect of a modified fragment of neuropeptide Y on memory phases and extrapolation escape of animals

Ihnat Havrylov, Sergiy Shtrygol'

Čes. slov. farm. 2021, 70(3):91-99 | DOI: 10.5817/CSF2021-3-91

The article presents a study of the effect of a modified fragment of neuropeptide Y (H-L-Ile-L-Asn-L-Leu-L-Nle-L-Ser-L-Arg-L-Asn-L-Arg-L-Tyr-NH2) named nonapeptide NP9 on the memory phases and extrapolation escape of animals. The study was performed in the passive avoidance test with intact animals, scopolamine-treated animals, and the extrapolation escape task. NP9 was investigated in the dose range of 0.04-0.4 mg/kg with a single intranasal administration. The comparison drug used peptide nootropic medicine Semax® (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) at a dose of 0.1 mg/kg.Efficiency was assessed by the retention latency, the percentage...

Antioxidant and anticytolytic action as the basis of the Pancreo-Plant® hepatoprotective effect in acute liver ischemia

Natalia Tsubanova, Liudmyla Trutaieva

Čes. slov. farm. 2021, 70(3):100-106 | DOI: 10.5817/CSF2021-3-100

In this experimental study, the effects of the combined herbal drug Pancreo-Plant® at a dose of 72 mg/kg and the comparison drug silymarin at a dose of 25 mg/ kg on animal mortality, cytolysis activity, free radical oxidation, and functional activity of the liver in the conditions of acute experimental ischemia have been studied. A pronounced antioxidant effect of the studied agent has been found which was manifested in the reduction of the lipid peroxidation products content, namely thiobarbituric acid products and diene conjugates and normalization of the enzymatic and non-enzymatic chains of endogenous antioxidant protection (reduced glutathione,...

Friction cost approach methodology in pharmacoeconomic analyses

Dominik Grega, Jozef Kolář

Čes. slov. farm. 2021, 70(3):107-111 | DOI: 10.5817/CSF2021-3-107

The use of a societal perspective in pharmacoeconomic analyses is a widely discussed topic. One of the fundamental problems of using the social perspective is the inconsistency of indirect costs calculation. We searched published articles on the use and differences of Human capital approach (HCA) and Friction cost approach (FCA) methods using the Web of Science database using keywords. We analyzed the information obtained from relevant publications. We obtained an overview of recommendations for the use of a social perspective in the world. We summarized and highlighted the necessary information about the differences between the FCA and HCA procedures....

Colour and content of some biologically active substances in natural products and products of natural origin

Jan Šubert, Jozef Kolář, Jozef Čižmárik

Čes. slov. farm. 2021, 70(3):83-90 | DOI: 10.5817/CSF2021-3-83

The paper draws attention to the correlations between the results of instrumental colour measurements and the content of some biologically active organic substances (carotenoids, chlorophyll, anthocyanins, curcuminoids, etc.) in natural products and products of natural origin. After supplementation by regression analysis and calibration, sufficiently close correlations can lead to the development of procedures for rapid determination of the content of these substances and their groups by colour measurement without more demanding sample treatment.

Phenolic acids and antioxidant potential of Caragana frutex shoots

Svetlana I. Stepanova, Vitaliy V. Boynik

Čes. slov. farm. 2021, 70(3):112-115 | DOI: 10.5817/CSF2021-3-112

The phenolic acid composition of flowering Caragana frutex shoots was analyzed by the HPLC method. The quantitative content of seven phenolic acids and their derivatives has been determined: gallic, p-hydroxyphenyl acetic, chlorogenic, caffeic, р-coumaric, trans-ferulic, and sinapic) acids. Sinapic acid (513.0 μg/g) and chlorogenic acid (98.4 μg/g) predominate among phenolic acid derivatives. The antioxidant activity of Caragana frutex shoots determined by the ABTS method equaled 9368.51 ± 30.07 μg/g expressed as Trolox equivalent.
