The article presents the results of the investigation of the effect of biomass powder of the fungus Ganoderma lucidum on T-cell-mediated immunity in normal and immunosuppressed mice CBA/Ca. Delayed-type hypersensitivity assay was used. Experimental immunodeficiency was established with intraperitoneal injection of the immunosuppressant cyclophosphamide at a single dose of 150 mg/kg on the first day of the experiment. Results of the study show that the administration of biomass powder of Ganoderma lucidum in a dose of 0.5 mg/kg orally for 10 days increases the delayed-type hypersensitivity response in normal mice CBA/Ca. Administration...

Micellization of selected quaternary ammonium compounds derived from heptacaine have been studied by absorption spectroscopy in the UV/VIS spectral region with the use of a pyrene probe. The compounds studied in the aqueous solution have been marked as H22, H26, H27, H29, H34, H + Al and H + B and the derivative marked as H34 was studied in a 3 mol/l ethanol solution at the temperature of 25 °C. In the homologous series of the studied bromides H22, H26, H27 and H29, cmc was observed to be dependent on the number of carbon atoms nC in the hydrophobic chain: ln (cmc) = -3.131-0.421nC. The Free Gibbs energy...

Čes. slov. farm. 2015, 64(4):149-153 | DOI: 10.36290/csf.2015.032
The paper deals with the problem of prescription and use of the medicinal products for human use in veterinary medicine. Using partial model analysis describes volume and structure of the prescription of medicinal products for human use in the veterinary practice in the years 2007-2011. Prescriptions included to the study were dispensed in a community pharmacy located in a county town in the Slovak Republic. Data were obtained from the basic collection of 845 veterinary prescriptions that included 1178 prescribed items in a total of 2954 packages.

Determination of flavonoids in natural materials with HPLC
Jarmila Krňanová, Jozef Lehotay, Jozef Čižmárik
Čes. slov. farm. 2015, 64(4):119-125 | DOI: 10.36290/csf.2015.027
The paper reviews recent developments in the determination of flavonoids with HPLC. Flavonoids are a group of polyphenolic compounds commonly found in plants. Sample preparation is a very important step in the analytical procedure. The basic concept of a sample preparation method is to convert a real matrix into a sample in a format that is suitable for analysis by separation or analytical technique. In the present paper, attention was focused on the applications of molecularly imprinted polymers, especially on their utilization as selective sorbents in solid-phase extraction in the determination of flavonoids.
Effectiveness of phytotherapy in supportive treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. III. Momordica (Momordica charantia)

Čes. slov. farm. 2015, 64(4):126-132 | DOI: 10.36290/csf.2015.028
Momordica charantia is a thermophilic voluble plant from the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. In central Europe, momordica requires greenhouse plantations. Mature fruits resemble a cucumber or a pumpkin and can be used as other similar vegetables. Crude fruits are very bitter and refreshing. For centuries the plant has been known in Chinese traditional medicine for its antidiabetic effects as well as for the treatment of cancer or infections caused by worms, viruses and malaria. Antidiabetic effects are attributed namely to cucurbitane type triterpenoids, charantin, p-insulin and 9cis-11trans-13trans-conjugated...
