Purpose of this research was to analyse the rare diseases drug supply paths in the Italian region of Campania (Health District 47 of the Local Medical Company Naples 1), with a particular focus on current regulations in this field, and quantify the economic incidence of such pathologies in each quarter of 2007 and 2008. Elicitation of plant in vitro cultures represents a biotechnological tool to improve the production of secondary metabolites. In this study, the effect of AgNO₃ and CdCl₂ on the sanguinarine production by the suspension culture of Eschscholtzia californica CHAM. was investigated. The flavonoid profile of Capsella bursa-pastoris (L.) Medik. (Brassicaceae) and the antioxidant activity of its methanolic and aqueous extracts were studied. Glycosides of quercetin, chrysoeriol, kaempferol, and isorhamnetin were identified. Chrysoeriol O-glucoside and isorhamnetin O-rutinoside were detected in this species for the first time. The extracts presented an antioxidant activity against DPPH radicals, peroxyl radicals, hydroxyl radicals, and hydrogen peroxide.

This experimental study describes the method of direct compression of powder mixtures composed of warfarinum sodium salt. Warfarinum is a drug with a narrow therapeutics index. Drugs of a Baroque monastery pharmacy

This paper deals with a manuscript from the years 1714-1720, originating most probably from the hospital of the Brothers of Mercy in Nové Město nad Metují. It contains the records of the hospital pharmacy about the drugs prepared for both patients and monks who operated this hospital. The included drugs were mainly intended for elderly males. The manuscript lists about fifteen hundred drugs and more than three hundred active ingredients, of which about two thirds were of plant origin. The paper presents the compositions of more important drugs and partly deals also with their preparation.
