L. Bartošíková, J. Nečas, T. Bartošík, M. Pavlík, V. Perlík
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(4):150-154
2',3,4'-trihydroxychalcone is a newly synthesized substance with antioxidant properties. The aim of this pilot study was to monitor its effect during heart perfusion in the laboratory rat.The study included two groups of animals of the same number (n = 10). The 1st group was pretreated with chalcone in a dose of 10 mg/kg p.o. during 15 days. The 2nd group was a placebo one. After i.p. administration of a heparin injection of 500 IU dose, the hearts were excised and perfused (a modified Langendorf's method). Working schedule: stabilization/ischaemia/reperfusion proceed at intervals of 20/30/60 min. Monitored parameters in the...
Determination of the coating thickness of HPMC hard capsules by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy
J. Muselík, K. Dvořáčková, M. Rabišková, A. Bartošíková, M. Rosendorfová, M. Dračková, L. Vorlová
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(4):155-159
The aim of this study was to develop the method for off-line determination of hard capsules coating thickness. The polymer films studied were Eudragit® L 12.5 and Eudragit® S 12.5 applied on hypromellose capsules surface in a bottom-spray fluid-bed coater equipped with a Wurster column. The coating thickness reference values for calibration were obtained from microscopic analysis. Calibration model was created using partial least squares regression with six factors for Eudragit® L film and five factors for Eudragit® S film. The calibration and validation results led to following parameters:...
The role of flavonoid osajin in renal ischemia-reperfusion model
J. Nečas, L. Bartošíková, T. Bartošík, P. Fráňa, M. Pavlík
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(4):160-167
The aim of the present study was to investigate the antioxidant effect of the flavonoid osajin isolated from the infructences of Maclura pomifera, Moraceae, against the damage inflicted by ROS in a rat model of renal ischemia-reperfusion injury. Renal ischemia-reperfusion was induced by clamping unilateral renal artery for 60 minutes. Renal function was assessed by estimating serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen and creatinine clearance. Renal morphological alterations were assessed by histopathological examination of hematoxylin-eosin stained sections of the kidneys. Ischemia-reperfusion produced elevated levels of malondialdehyde (a metabolic marker...
Effects of combined hormonal deprivation and fungal elicitation on the production of coumarins in cell suspension cultures of Angelica archangelica L.
T. Siatka, M. Kašparová
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(4):168-171
The effectiveness of elicitation as a tool to enhance the production of secondary metabolites in plant tissue cultures depends on a complex interaction between the elicitor and the plant cell. The paper investigated the influence of removal of plant growth regulators and light conditions on the cell growth and elicitation of coumarins in Angelica archangelica cell suspension cultures. An autoclaved homogenate of Pythium aphanidermatum was used as the elicitor. Cell cultures of Angelica archangelica were cultured in a medium supplemented with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and benzylaminopurine or in a hormone free medium, and in the dark or under continuous...
Studies of the properties of tablets from directly compressible isomalt
J. Mužíková, V. Pavlasová
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(4):172-178
The paper deals with the study of the properties of tablets from two types of directly compressible isomalt - namely galenIQTM 720 and galenIQTM 721. The study focuses on the dependence of tensile strength and disintegration time of the tablets, on both the compression force, the addition of lubricants, namely magnesium stearate and sodium stearyl fumarate (Pruv) with the concentrations of 0.5% and 1%, and a 50% addition of model active ingredients, namely ascorbic acid and acetylsalicylic acid. The used compression forces were 6, 8 and 10 kN, tablets containing drugs were compressed only with the force of 10 kN. The tensile strength...
Determination of the constituents of propolis of different geographical origin
J. Muselík, R. Masteiková, V. Suchý, Z. Chalupová, V. Ostrá
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(4):179-183
The structural diversity of propolis constituents, due to a larger number of plant sources, is the cause of diverse composition and the hitherto unsolved standardization. The principal share in the biological effects is ascribed to flavonoids and aromatic acids and their derivatives. The results presented in this paper illustrate the diversity of the compositions of ten propolis samples obtained from different regions of the Czech Republic and three samples from abroad. Attention was paid to the determination of polyphenols, content of flavones and flavonols and the assay of antioxidative activity. The results confirmed the variability of the parameters...

Standard prescriptions for the formulation of medicinal preparations in pharmacies III Some possibilities of using isopropyl alcohol
J. Šubert, J. Kolář
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(4):147-149
On the basis of the examples of preparations listed in Deutscher Arzneimittel-Codex/Neues Rezeptur Formularium (NRF), the paper illustrates some possibilities of replacing ethanol by isopropyl alcohol as one of the possible ways of composition and technology of medicinal preparations produced in pharmacies in the Czech Republic. It further draws attention to the economic and clinical advantages of the use of isopropyl alcohol.
