Beneficial effects of rutin, quercitrin and quercetin on inflammatory bowel disease
M. Rabišková, T. Bautzová, K. Dvořáčková, J. Spilková
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(2):47-54
The aim of this review article was to obtain a deeper understanding of the reported effects of flavonols, in particular rutin, quercitrin and their aglycone quercetin, with respect to their potential beneficial action on inflammatory bowel disease. Research in the field of flavonoids has increased significantly in recent few years and many new investigations have been performed concerning their absorption, metabolism, and probable mechanisms of action. Recently published results obtained in in vitro approaches and in vivo experiments on animal models are reported. Further investigation aimed at the clinical effects of rutin may be important for the...

The paper deals with the content of the terms pharmaceutical care, pharmacy care, and good pharmacy practice, pointing out their identical, similar, and different characteristics.
Beta-blockers
J. Ďuricová, M. Grundmann
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(2):60-66
Beta-adrenergic blockers rank among the principal drugs in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Their common mechanism of action is based on the ß-adrenergic receptor blockade. However, differences in pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties exist between the individual agents in the beta-blocker class, and these differences may be of clinical relevance. In addition, responses to beta-blockers are variable among patients. Genetic plymorphism in drug-metabolizing enzymes, including cytochrome P450 2D6, has been demonstrated to contribute to the variability of several beta-blockers. The understanding of beta-blocker properties and their differences...
Production of isoflavonoids in the Trifolium pratense L. suspension culture
M. Kašparová, T. Siatka, J. Dušek
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(2):67-70
The plant Trifolium pratense L. contains a wide spectrum of constituents. Regarding the utilization of the red clover plant for therapeutic purposes, the most interesting substances are isoflavonoids. They are listed in the same class with the most important phytoestrogens. The explant cultures are a promising source of secondary metabolites, thus also of isoflavonoids. However, their production, when compared with intact plants, is usually lower and this is the reason why we are looking for different methods and approaches to increase the production. The objective of this study was to observe the influence of three elicitors - the salicylic acid,...
HPLC study of temperature influence on some enantiomer separations of sulfoxides, determination of some enantiomers of sulfoxides in rat serum
D. Meričko, J. Lehotay, J. Čižmárik
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(2):71-77
The methylated-teicoplanin aglycone chiral stationary phase (CSP) was used to study the enantioseparation and temperature behaviour of a set of chiral sulfoxides - nine different aryl methyl sulfoxides, 1-methylsulfinylnaphthalene and 1,1-dimethyl-2-phenylethylsulfinylbenzene in polar organic mode. The effect of temperature on the HPLC separation of aromatic sulfoxides was studied between 10 °C and 50 °C in methanol mobile phases with different concentration of the organic modifier in mobile phase composition. The van't Hoff plots (ln k versus 1/T and ln α versus 1/T, where k is retention factor, T is temperature of chromatographic column, and...
Studies of local anesthetics Part: 187 Extraction of 1-methyl-2-piperidinoethylesters of alkoxyphenylcarbamic acids from human plasma by imprinted polymers and its comparison with classic solid phase extraction
J. Čižmárik, M. Lachová, J. Lehotay, I. Skačáni
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(2):78-82
Molecularly imprinted polymers for 1-methyl-2-piperidinoethylester of 2-methoxyphenylcarbamic acid (template) have been synthesised. Acrylamide and methacrylic acids, respectively, were used as the functional monomers. Imprinted polymers were used as the sorbents for solid-phase extraction (MISPE). The capacity and selectivity of prepared imprinted polymers were investigated with the use of some derivatives of 1-methyl-2-piperidinethylesters of alkoxyphenylcarbamic acids. The non-imprinted (blank) polymers were prepared by the same way without a template to study the non-specific interactions. The molecularly imprinted polymer prepared from methacrylic...
Use radionuclide x-ray fluorescence analysis for determination of heavy metals content in dextrans in solid and liquid state
V. Jánošová, O. Štroffeková, M. Sýkorová
Čes. slov. farm. 2009, 58(2):83-87
The aim of this study was to determine heavy metals in dextrans samples and to observe the influence of sample preparation before the analysis on the detection limit by radionuclide x-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF). The content of elements Mn, Fe, Cu, Co, Zn, Pb, As, Hg and Cd was determined in dextran tablets, their ashes after the mineralization and in solutions after the preconcetration by precipitation with thioacetamide and after following filtration of created sulphides through the membrane filter. Calculated detection limits proved the advantage of preconcentration of elements from the liquid state. The results suggest the possible use of combination...
