Pellet friability and hardness are important particle characteristics as they predict pellet behavior during technological processes such as film coating, filling into hard gelatin capsules or compressing into tablets. At present no methods for testing of these pellet properties are present in pharmacopoeias and various methods adapted from tablet evaluation are used. A study of the properties of compacts from directly compressible fructose

The paper deals with a study of tensile strength and disintegration time of compacts from directly compressible fructose Advantose FS 95 and its mixture with microcrystalline cellulose Vivapur 102 in the ratio of 1:1 in dependence on compression force. It examines the effect of an addition of two lubricants, magnesium stearate and sodium stearyl fumarate, in the concentration of 1%, and an addition of active ingredients, ascorbic acid and acetylsalicylic acid in the concentration of 50%. Chitosan, an intensively studied semisynthetic polymer, has many possible uses due to its special parameters. Chitosan is also presently useful as an excipient in pharmaceutical industry due to its binding, mucoadhesive, viscosity-increasing and film-coating properties which depend on its concentration. Pharmacotherapy of cardiovascular diseases in the population of the Czech Republic

On the basis of frequency analysis under ATC classification, 48.5% of included pharmaceuticals were found to belong to group C, i.e., agents with an impact on the cardiovascular system. The largest number of pharmaceuticals was prescribed to persons of the age group of 61 years of age and over. It confirms the statistic data saying that cardiovascular diseases increase with age. Only 8.7% of patients to whom group C pharmaceuticals were prescribed used monotherapy. Using several examples of the preparations from the Deutscher Arzneimittel-Codex/Neues Rezeptur Formularium (NRF), the paper proposes possible innovation and standardization of prescriptions of other dermatological preparations than the suspensions intended for dermal administration prepared in the Czech Republic. In selected examples (Castellan's solution and some others), the approach of NRF is confronted with that of the Czech Pharmacopoeia.
