Advances in the Development of New Antituberculotics from the Group of Five-Membe-red Heterocyclic Substances Containing Various Heteroatoms
K. Waisser, L. Drhová
Čes. slov. farm. 1999, 48(5):195-203
Tuberculosis and other antimycobacterial diseases are considered to be one of the most importantproblems of the health service at present. Since 1985, and in particular in the 1990s, a search fornew structures of antimycobacterial substances has ranked among the prior fields of chemothera-peutic research. The present review paper links up with the previous communications, and surveysthe studies carried out in the field of five-membered heterocyclic compounds containing moreheteroatoms since 1984. The most frequently investigated field is thiazole derivatives but the mostsuccessful papers originated in the group of oxazoles, where effective antituberculotics...
New Isoprenoid Biosynthetic Pathway
M. Nagy, D. Grančai
Čes. slov. farm. 1999, 48(5):204-206
The review characterizes the known isoprenoid biosynthetic pathway (mevalonic acid pathway) anddiscusses a new GAP/pyruvate pathway current knowledge.
Influence of the Health-Service Reform in Germany on the Pharmacist's Role in Pharmacotherapy
P. Ginzelová, K. H. Kugler, J. Solich
Čes. slov. farm. 1999, 48(5):207-213
The present paper describes the pharmacist's role in Germany during the health-service reform andshows his prospects within pharmacological therapy and his role in contemporary modern society. However, emphasis is placed on the out-patient provision of drugs. The development of the recent years clearly indicates the effects of the health-service reform on all concerned in German healthservices. For this reason the present paper has been extended to include the description of the current social and health guidelines for health services. Moreover, it also describes the individual stages of the health-service reform in Germany between 1989 and 1997. The...
In vitro determination of verapamil hydrochloride tablet dissolution
A. ©tambergová, Z. Ulbrichová, J. ©edivý, T. Sechser
Čes. slov. farm. 1999, 48(5):214-217
Three different products containing 240 mg of verapamil hydrochloride in a coated tablet withsustained release were compared using the blinded dissolution test. The amount of the activesubstance released from the tablet and its dynamics differed significantly with all three productsafter 3 hours of dissolution. With product C (Isoptin SR, a proprietary product manufactured byKnoll), 92,2 % of the active substance was released after seven hours. With generic products A andB, the amounts were higher and lower, respectively. The dynamics of release of the active substancewas linear only with the proprietary product. Irregular and non-linear rates of active...
Use of a Redox Polymers for Insulin Labelling with Technetium (99mTc)
P. Komárek, I. Kleisner, M. Konopková, I. Komárková
Čes. slov. farm. 1999, 48(5):218-220
The paper describes a method for porcine insulin labelling with technetium (99mTc). When preparingthis peptide, an insoluble redox polymer on the basis of cross-linked dextran (RP G25-IDA) was usedfor labelling. The prepared kits were labelled with 99mTc with a high labelling efficiency (more than 95 %) and stability, as assessed using methods of chromatography. 99mTc-insulin biodistribution inrats with experimentally induced diabetes - compared with a control group - did not demonstratespecific accumulation of the labelled substance in any organ. The method for kit preparation andits labelling are mild, HPLC and SEC...
Liberation of Drugs from Impregnated Wound Covers
K. Ducková, J. Kučera
Čes. slov. farm. 1999, 48(5):221-225
The present paper investigates drugs and polymers intended for the impregnation of textile carriersintended for use as wound covers. Their suitability was evaluated on the basis of the evaluation ofthe antimicrobial efficacy of a combination of trimetoprim and sulfadimidine with the local anaes-thetics carbizocaine and lidocaine, and the immunomodulating substance fungal glucan. A greaterinhibitory effect on the growth of microorganisms was shown by a combination of antimicrobialsubstances with carbizocaine. In the study of liberation of chlorohexidine from hydrophilic macro-molecular dispersions its bond to glucan was confirmed. Dispersions of Natrosol...
The Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) Effectivelly Prevents Development of Atherosclerosis in the Rabbit
P. Bobek, ©. Galbavý
Čes. slov. farm. 1999, 48(5):226-230
The addition of 10 % dried fruiting bodies of the oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) to the dietcontaining 1 % of cholesterol reduced serum cholesterol levels by 65 % and cholesterol content inthe liver, heart, long extensor muscle and aorta of male rabbits (Chinchilla) by 60; 47; 25 and 79 %,respectively. Oyster mushroom diet reduced the content of conjugated dienes by 60-70 % in theplasma, erythrocytes and liver. However, it did not significantly affect the activities of antioxidantenzymes. Oyster mushroom diet reduced significantly the incidence of atherosclerotic plaques asestimated by sudanophilia (absence of a positive reaction in 3 of 5 animals)...
Determination of the Stomatal Index of Betulae folium
J. Spilková, H. Hejlová
Čes. slov. farm. 1999, 48(5):231-232
Stomatal index (S. I.) was examined in the birch leaves from Betula pendula ROTH and B. pubescens EHRH. collected during vegetation in different localities. Its value lies within 3.30 ± 1.31 - 7.33 ±3.13 in Betula pendula ROTH and 3.66 ± 1.34 - 12.06 ± 3.26 in the species Betula pubescens EHRH.With greater or lesser significance, the S.I. value is dependent on the age of the leaf, mother plantand locality.
Preparation of Hydrazones of R- and S-usnic Acid Their Antitumor Activity
B. Proksa, A. Proksová
Čes. slov. farm. 1999, 48(5):233-236
Hydrazones of R- and S-usnic acid were prepared by condensation of the appropriate enantiomer ofusnic acid with hydrazides of aromatic acids. Prepared compounds were characterized by spectral methods. Reaction kinetic was studied with capillary electrokinetic chromatography, enantiomeric purity of products was checked by capillary electrophoresis in the presence of g-cyclodextrin. Obtained hydrazones were tested as prospective antimitotic agents. The antitumor activity was screened in vitro on human tumor cell lines. The overall activity of tested compounds was low, however, the R-enantiomers were more active than their opposite stereoisomers.
Contributions to Drug Analysis XXI. Determination of Methylrosanilinium Chloride Content by Differential Titration of Various Functional Groups in Protogenic Non-Aqueous Medium
J. ©ubert, E. Dostálová
Čes. slov. farm. 1999, 48(5):237-240
Differential titration of various functional groups in the drug molecule (N+ Cl- and amino groups) is proposed to solve the problem of the determination of methylrosanilinium chloride content in the substance according to PhBs 4 (the results are higher than the theoretical possibility) by titrating 0.1 M HClO4 in acetic acid with potentiometric indication (glass and saturated calomel electrodes) 1/1 (as N+ Cl-). A mixture of 35 ml of chloroform with 15 ml of acetic acid anhydride was proposed and tested as a suitable medium for this titration; the weighed-out amount is about 0.1100 g,titration in the surroundings of end points after 0.30 ml of volumetric...
