Currently, a wide variety of wound dressings of varying composition and effects is used to treat wounds. These include also film dressings where one of the promising materials for its preparation is sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCMC) as a material of natural origin with excellent film-forming properties. Its application is particularly in the field of absorbent dressings, films for wounds from this material are not used in practice yet. Hidden potential offers also dexpanthenol, a substance widely used in dermatological practice. Therefore, the aim of this research was to prepare films from textile NaCMC with dexpanthenol by the solvent evaporation...

Čes. slov. farm. 2019, 68(1):3-11 | DOI: 10.36290/csf.2019.001
Nowadays, oncological diseases are one of the most common causes of untimely death. Current therapy based on synthetic chemotherapeuties has a number of side-effects, and a resistance to this type of treatment is very common. For this reason, new substances without these effects are constantly sought. In this regard, natural products appear to be a promising source of new active compounds. This review aims to introduce cytostatics inspired by natural substances that are in clinical trials or are already in common use.
Microneedles as a perspective for transdermal therapeutic systems
Tomáš Wolaschka
Čes. slov. farm. 2019, 68(1):12-26 | DOI: 10.36290/csf.2019.002
Transdermal Therapeutic Systems (TTS) improve patient compliance especially due to its simple application and long-term action with the need to exchange the system every 12 hours to several days. The advantages also include elimination of first-pass effect, avoidance of gastrointestinal adverse effects, stable drug levels in the blood and simple discontinuation of therapy by patch removing. However, most drugs do not have the appropriate physicochemical properties to achieve therapeutic levels by transdermal application, therefore only a limited amount of drugs administered by this route is available on the market. Microneedles (MI) by their...

Theory and practice of pharmacopoeial control of quality of drugs and excipients VIII. End-point indication and other conditions for the titration of primary aromatic amines in the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.)
Jan Šubert, Jozef Kolář
Čes. slov. farm. 2019, 68(1):34-36 | DOI: 10.36290/csf.2019.004
Indication of the equivalence point for the titration of primary aromatic amines (sulphonamides, etc.) with sodium nitrite solution according to Ph. Eur. (2.5.8) is performed electrometrically or using a prescribed indicator, the electrometric method not being specified. Better reproducibility of the assay results would add to Ph. Eur. the electrometric method to be used for the indication and suitable electrodes for it. The authors of the paper propose a potentiometric indication, which is in Ph. Eur. widely used. Further, they propose to consider whether in Article 2.5.8. Ph. Eur. indications using an indicator as an alternative to the instrumental...
